Yueqi Yang is a first-year Ph.D. student in Sociology at Washington University in St. Louis. Her research interests include migration, law, inequality, and legal institutions. Before beginning her doctoral studies, she earned a B.A. in Sociology and Japanese

from UC Santa Barbara and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School. Her experience practicing immigration law helped shape her interest in how immigrants encounter and navigate legal and bureaucratic institutions.
