Book Launch: “Diversityland: Hiding Racial Inequality in an American Suburb” by Kiara Wyndham

Join us at Left Bank Books for a conversation, audience Q&A, and book signing to celebrate the launch of Diversityland by Professor Kiara Wyndham.

Assistant Professor of Sociology Kiara Wyndham publishes her book, Diversityland

Drawing on two years of ethnographic fieldwork and more than 150 interviews in Fort Bend County, Texas, Diversityland (University of California Press) examines what Wyndham calls the “diversity contract” — an unspoken local agreement that racial difference may be celebrated so long as racial inequality goes unnamed.

The evening will open with a conversation about the book, followed by questions from the audience.

  • Left Bank Books: 399 N. Euclid Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108
  • Books will be available for purchase and signing

This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Sociology, The Center for the Study of Race, Ethnicity, & Equity, and the Office of Public Scholarship.
